FES in Ireland

FES in Ireland

The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung in Dublin operates as a hub for advancing a progressive agenda and facilitating dialogue among German, Irish, and European decision-makers and trade unions. Additionally, it plays a vital role in bolstering relations between Ireland and Germany.

With a focus on fostering a just transition, security in Europe, and shaping the future of democracy, it plays a pivotal role in facilitating ongoing dialogue and collaboration.

Activities primarily centre around organising seminars, conferences, and round table discussions, as well as conducting delegations and reports on political trends in both Ireland and Germany.

Collaboration extends to diverse dialogue and collaboration partners, including:

  • Foundations and think tanks aligned with social democracy, such as European Movement, the Institute of International and European Affairs (IIEA), and Think-tank for Action on Social Change (TASC)
  • Trade union institutions like the Nevin Economic Research Institute (NERI), as well as the trade union umbrella organisation ICTU and individual trade unions
  • Policy-oriented research institutions such as the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI) as well as other academic institutes, and universities
  • Civil society organisations, state institutions, and political bodies
  • Representation of German institutions in Ireland and the network of FES offices worldwide

Through strategic partnerships and collaborative efforts, the FES in Dublin aims to drive positive political change and contribute to a more inclusive and sustainable future.
