German–Irish Parliamentary Exchange in Berlin

The second German–Irish Dialogue took place in Berlin in December 2025, bringing Irish and German parliamentarians together for an exchange on shared policy challenges.

Building on the inaugural dialogue hosted in Dublin two years earlier, Irish and German parliamentarians met in Berlin to exchange views on climate action, housing policy, and migration. The programme combined parliamentary engagement with expert input at the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung headquarters, allowing discussions to draw on both political and research perspectives.

The Irish delegation included Labour Party leader Ivana Bacik, General Secretary Billie Sparks, TD George Lawlor, and Political Director Cathal McCann. They were accompanied by Thomas Mättig, FES Desk Officer for Ireland, and Anna Kraft, FES Ireland Programme Manager. With the visit falling during the Advent period, the Irish Embassy in Berlin hosted the delegation for dinner and welcomed the group to an Irish Christmas Market in the courtyard of its historic building.
