The UK has duplicated some regulatory mechanisms, though little strategy on environmental policy had emerged until the publication of the Retained EU law (Revocation and Reform) Bill, which would repeal all EU law by the end of 2023. The creation of a dedicated forum for environmental EU-UK cooperation, or rejoining the EEA, could present steps towards a robust maintenance of environmental standards on both sides of the channel.
